- The Axum had good leadership because they lead Axum to its success.
- The towns of Axum did not need defensive systems because they were located south of Kush on a rugged plateau on the Red Sea. Axum was geographically isolated with the Red Sea on one side while it was hard to get near Axum since they were on a rugged plateau.
Evaluate the importance of trade on the empire.
- Axum controlled international trade. Due to the fact Axum had access to the Red Sea, this allowed them to trade with many people.
- Axum traded salt and luxuries such as rhinoceros horns, tortoise shells, ivory, emeralds, and gold. In return, Axum traded their goods for items such as imported cloth, glass, olive oil, wine, brass, iron, and copper.
- Trade was also very important because through trade Axum was able to spread their culture to many different places such as Egypt, Arabia, Greece, Rome, Persia, India, and even Byzantium.
